Mon., Jan. 7 - Day 1
We began a brief intro into Chapter 8 today.We defined "Square Numbers aka Perfect Squares" and square roots of numbers.


Please complete: Text Pg. 322-324 #1-6 and the Perfect Squares sheet from 1 squared to 20 squared.

Note: The Evaluation on fractions from before the holidays were returned. Many scored more than 100% thanks to great work on the Bonus questions! Some of you need to work on your ability to perform operations on fractions without the use of a calculator. Be sure to read the comments that I put on the papers that I returned to you.


Tues., Jan. 8 - Day 2
Today's Focus: Sect. 8.1/8.2: Visualizing situations that involve perfect squares. Also estimating perfect squares.

Complete: Pg.328 #2-5,7 and Pg. 331#4,5,7-9, 11-13


Wed., Jan. 9 - Day 3
Today we:
1) corrected problem areas from Sect. 8.1/8.2
2) began an origami proof of Pythagorean Theorem. We will continue these tomorrow.

Review the work we did in sect. 8.1/8.2 tonight. A short quiz is coming!

Thurs., Jan. 10 - Day 4
Today we did a short quiz to review our work on perfect squares and to challenge your thinking skills a bit.

Complete for HW the 2 practice sheets on squares and square roots if you were not finished them in class. Do not use a calculator!


Fri., Jan. 11 - Day 1
Today we did the 2nd origami proof of the Pythagorean Theorem in class.

Complete: Sect. 8.3 Pg. 338/339 #1-4 in your text book.

Note: Jayda and Zuri - you will do the quiz you missed in study hall after school on Monday.
